Frequently Asked Questions

Q - What if I feel I was fired in violation of my civil rights (i.e. age, race, gender, national origin, disability)?
A - Before an attorney can file suit, an intake questionnaire and charge of discrimination must be filed within 180 days of the violation. Once the EEOC completes their investigation a right to sue letter will be issued and then and only then can a lawsuit be filed on your behalf. (see download for Intake Questionnaire of EEOC)
Q - What is “at will” employment/ “right to work” state mean?
A - “At will” means you can be fired or you can quit for any or no reason at any point in time during your employment.
Q - Do I need an attorney for any and all criminal offenses to include something as minor traffic offenses?
A - An attorney is skilled and experienced in the rules of court and knows how to present evidence. Attorneys can provide counsel and assistance to legal defenses as well as other evidentiary issues. It is always important to contact an attorney for even the smallest criminal offenses because a conviction for anything can have serious consequences.
